Teach First Deutschland
Focusing on future generations
As the founding partner and largest supporter of Teach First Deutschland, we are committed to more equal access to education and want to support less privileged children and youths in Germany. For us, education is not only an important task for the government, but also a challenge to society as a whole.

Setting a good example
The idea is as simple as it is convincing: Outstanding university graduates help to ensure that even children and youths with fewer opportunities get a chance to move up. Teach First Deutschland, an initiative launched in 2009 with both government and business support, follows this approach.
Based on similar models in the United States and the United Kingdom, graduates work in secondary schools as Fellows for a period of two years. Their purpose is to serve as role models, to motivate students and to help them perform better in school. The Fellows are thoroughly prepared and coached on an ongoing basis. Through their roles within the schools they gain experience and additional qualifications that are benificial for their future careers.
Deutsche Post DHL supports the Teach First Deutschland Organization and the Fellow Program. We also sponsor 14-day-long summer camps in which young people, some of whom are the children of our employees, receive focused individual attention. Furthermore, Deutsche Post executives volunteer at Teach First Deutschland schools and summer camps.

Our partners
Teach First Deutschland is a non-profit organization headquartered in Berlin. Kaija Landsberg, a graduate of the Hertie School of Governance, is the organization's founder and CEO. She is assisted by a young and highly qualified team. In addition to Deutsche Post DHL, Teach First Deutschland's partners include Deutsche Lufthansa, The Robert Bosch Foundation and The Vodafone Foundation Germany.
Other supporters include the Hertie Stiftung, McKinsey & Company, and Microsoft Germany. The cities of Berlin and Hamburg, and the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia are pioneers in implementing the Teach First Deutschland concept and take care of the financing of the Fellows. The German Foundation for Children and Youths (Deutsche Kinder- und Jugendstiftung) is our educational partner for our summer camps.
